O physical cattle market prices fell again this Wednesday, still as a result of the increase in supply in a period marked by the lack of rain in the Central-West and Southeast of Brazil.

Added to this is the scenario of high temperatures, which increases pasture wear and reduces retention capacity.

“In this way, we have reached the moment when, faced with a large volume of supply, the scales begin to move forward and the prices of the arroba of live cattle begin to fall”, said the analyst at Safras & Mercado Consulting, Fernando Henrique Iglesias.

Cattle prices

  • In São Paulo, capital: R$ 229 per arroba of beef cattle
  • In Goiânia, Goiás: R$ 216 per arroba of fat cattle
  • In Uberaba (MG): R$ 225 per arroba of beef cattle
  • In Dourados (MS): R$ 221 per arroba of fat cattle
  • In Cuiabá: R$ 213 per arroba of fat cattle

Wholesale

The wholesale market is facing higher prices, confirming the trend predicted for the period. Demand is heated throughout the first fortnight of the month, considering that, in addition to the entry of salaries into the economy, there is also additional consumption related to Mother’s Day, a commemorative date that represents the second best point of consumption throughout the year, Iglesias said.

The hind quarter was priced at R$17.50 per kilo, an increase of R$0.20. The front quarter was priced at R$13.90 per kilo. The needle tip was priced at R$13.00 per kilo, an increase of R$0.20.
