Procon/MS has new headquarters with more rooms, counters and attention to security – Capital

Procon/MS inaugurated the new headquarters this Wednesday afternoon (8). Located on Rua Padre João Crippa, Nº 3115, in the Jardim Monte Virgínia neighborhood, the new building promises to be more accessible and provide more comfort to users.

“The motivation for the change is to provide a more welcoming environment for the population and with higher quality”, said Angelo Motti, executive secretary for guidance and consumer protection.

The new unit has seven conciliation rooms, 11 counters, three of which are preferential. There will also be a Procon Expresso counter, a direct negotiation channel between the user and the institution. So far, the presence of energy and water concessionaires has been confirmed, but according to Angelo, some banks and telephone services are under negotiation.

“The objective is to provide dignified treatment, with accessibility. Our service is all on the ground floor. Now there’s space. Previously, servers had to take turns working on customer service. ”, he added.

Procon/MS has an average of 170 services per day, an average that must be maintained even with the new headquarters. Another change highlighted by the secretary is the number of windows. “In the old headquarters, on 13 de Maio, there were no windows. Now the air circulates.”

Governor Eduardo Riedel was present at the inauguration and also highlighted the issue of dignity. “The state Procon is 38 years old, that is, he is four years older than the consumer law. This shows that the state has always had an eye on the consumer, which was lost in recent years (due to the old headquarters), but has now returned.”

Procon/MS will have face-to-face, telephone and online service as its pillars. “We are putting a new concept into practice. The face of government is service to people, and it needs to be well, as is the case here with Procon”, concluded the governor.

Another issue highlighted by the governor is the issue of security. The new building has metal detectors. He reinforced the measure in the context of the death of businessman Antônio Caetano de Carvalho, 67 years old, in February 2023, who was shot dead during a hearing at Procon in the old headquarters.

The Migrant Assistance Center, the Council for Persons with Disabilities, the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents and the Council for the Protection of the Elderly will operate in the same building.

“The incident in the building comes from an outcry from the population, who knew the need for better service to the public,” said Patrícia Cozzolino, Secretary of Social Assistance and Human Rights.
