The Alberto Santos Dumont Teaching and Research Institute (ISD) will promote, on the 6th and 7th of June, the 1st Day of the Care Network for People with Disabilities in Rio Grande do Norte. The event, which is part of the scientific program in reference to the 10 years of ISD’s qualification as a Social Organization by the Federal Government, aims to deepen knowledge and provide a space for discussion between students and professionals who work in the rehabilitation of patients, with the participation of family members.

“The main objective of the event is to discover the demands of users and how the care network is currently functioning, so that we can strengthen it and further integrate the family-centered care that guides the state’s rehabilitation centers” , explains Lorenna Santiago, Coordinator of the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities at ISD.

Reinforcing the role of the ISD Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER) as an environment for integration between teaching, service and the community, the event will bring together agents from different rehabilitation centers around themes of scientific and social relevance, with updates of knowledge, skills , innovation and health technologies. The moment will feature lectures, round tables and reports from patients and family members.

In addition, starting this Wednesday (8), submissions of scientific works for presentations in oral or poster format are open. Works carried out by undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers and professionals who work directly with the care of people with disabilities will be accepted.

Lorenna, who makes up the Scientific Committee of the Journey, clarifies that “scientific works will be accepted in summary format. These may be original research or secondary review works, which are related to the care of people with disabilities. So, students, universities or health professionals who have reports of interesting experiences will be able to submit their work.”

“In a state where there are more than ten qualified Specialized Rehabilitation Centers, with a high average national prevalence of PwD clinical cases, it is expected that the Journey will provide the sharing of interprofessional skills and health actions that strengthen the state PwD network, always centered on the community”, highlights the coordinator of ISD’s health teaching activities, Samantha Maranhão.

Submissions of scientific works must be made by May 16th by filling out an online form. The publication of works accepted for presentation will take place on the 24th, via ISD’s social networks.

The opening conference of the 1st Day of the Care Network for People with Disabilities of RN will be on June 6th, starting at 9:30 am, in the auditorium of the Edmond and Liliy Safra International Institute of Neurosciences (IIN-ELS), an ISD unit located in Macaíba (RN).
