This Tuesday, the 7th, the Military Police presented the partial result of the Operation Protector of Borders and Borders. The objective of the action is to maintain overt and preventive policing in regions bordering other states, with repression and crime prevention actions, aligned with intelligence and investigation actions, in partnership with other security forces.

Military police officers from the Military Road and Border Police Battalion (BPMRED) are responsible for the operation, which includes overt prevention, surveillance, inspection and control actions in the border regions of the state of Tocantins and areas of operational interest, through action integrated between the PM/TO Operational Units and other public security bodies, with a view to criminal repression, in particular, transnational crimes and related crimes.

The data presented from the Operation Protector of Borders and Borders are from January 1st to April 30th this year. During this period, 109 occurrence records were recorded within the scope of the operation. Among these, 47 were arrests and seizures related to the crimes of robbery, drug trafficking, serving an arrest warrant and tampering with a motor vehicle. Still on the numbers, 13 Detailed Terms of Occurrence (TCO) were drawn up.

In Tocantins, included in the data of this operation, is the occurrence of the month of March this year, for example, when, together with the Civil Police, the PM arrested a 40-year-old man for interstate drug trafficking, having been located in the passenger seat approximately 15 kg of a substance analogous to cocaine-based paste from a truck. This arrest and seizure took place on Highway BR-153, close to the border between the state of Tocantins and the state of Goiás.

The general commander of the PM/TO, Colonel Márcio Antônio Barbosa de Mendonça, when commenting on the operation, highlighted its importance: “Our police officers are doing a good job in preventing crime in the state. Carrying out overt and preventive policing on the borders of Tocantins is important for our region to remain safe.”

The operation sought to strengthen prevention, surveillance, inspection and control in border regions, borders and areas of operational interest, through the integrated action of public security, customs control, defense, inspection and other bodies. institutions whose action is necessary, in the three spheres of government.
