In March 2024, the price of milk collected in Mato Grosso registered a drop of 2.80% compared to the previous month, reaching the value of R$1.89 per liter. The first quarter of 2024 revealed a challenging scenario for producers in Mato Grosso. With an average producer price of R$1.92 per liter, there was a drop of 13.71% compared to the same period of the previous year. This negative trend contrasts with the record prices achieved in the first quarter of 2023, highlighting the difficulties faced by the sector.

Despite the difficulties, it is important to contextualize the current situation. The average price of milk in the first quarter of 2024 was 1.72% higher than the average of the last three years, suggesting a certain stability amid market volatility.

The Imea index (ICAP-L) showed an increase of 0.98 percentage points in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 59.60%. This increase in capture may indicate a positive reaction on the part of producers, seeking to compensate for the drop in prices.

In addition to the drop in prices, the price of mozzarella also registered a decrease of 10.23% compared to the first quarter of 2023, with an average of R$35.52 per kilo. This scenario, influenced by several factors, reflects the challenges faced throughout the production chain, with demand still weakened.
