A serious accident during a cycling event in Patos de Minas killed a Criminal Police Officer. The collision took place on the dirt road that connects Patos de Minas to the rural community of Capela das Posses, close to Ponte do Bigode which is over the Paranaíba River. The victim was on a bicycle when he was hit by a pickup truck.
A Fire Department Rescue Unit helped the criminal police officer, who was in cardiorespiratory arrest. He was rushed to the Antônio Dias Regional Hospital, but he did not survive and died shortly after being admitted.
Evando Costa da Silva was a criminal police officer stationed in João Pinheiro. He was passionate about cycling and was in Patos de Minas to participate in the Desafio do Milhão.
The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Patos de Minas. Civil Police experts were at the scene to investigate the dynamics of the accident.
