Widened beach in SC will undergo 4th sand strip thickening in 25 years to contain erosion | Santa Catarina

Balneário Piçarras, a city of 27 thousand inhabitants on the coast of Santa Catarina, launched a new notice to expand for the fourth time in 25 years the strip of sand on the beach which bears the same name as the city. The site, which was the first in the state to undergo intervention, has already undergone three other fattenings, between 1998 and 2012, but it records maritime erosion that caused the stretch to be swallowed by the sea over the years.

The new bid has an estimated value of R$ 24,256,918.59 and was released on April 29th. Proposals from companies will be received until June 7th. Once contracted, the works are expected to last five months.
