Amazonian athlete Caio Arcos left for Rio de Janeiro, on Monday (06/05), in search of Olympic classification in the Brazil Swimming Trophy. With support from the Government of Amazonas, through the State Sports Grant and the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the swimmer is the only representative of the state in the national competition.

“We have been following the evolution of Caio Arcos and we know that the year 2024 is of great importance for Amazonians who, like him, dream of the Olympics. With investments determined by Governor Wilson Lima, we are sure that Caio will continue to make history in swimming”, highlighted the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), Jorge Oliveira.

The Brazilian Swimming Trophy is being held until Saturday (11/05), at the Aeronautics Olympic Training Center, at the headquarters of the Aeronautics Sports Commission (CDA), in Rio de Janeiro, with the best athletes in the sport nationwide. and international.

Caio Arcos highlights the relevance of representing Amazonas in the selective. “It is extremely important for swimming in the state to have an athlete in a competition of this level. It’s the first time I’ve participated in an Olympic tryout and I’m looking for this place, I trained a lot, it’s a very important moment for my career in sport”, said the athlete.

Competing since he was 6 years old, Caio Arcos, 19, from Amazonas, is currently the best backstroke swimmer in the North region, accumulating numerous titles. In the selective, Caio will compete in the absolute category, in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke.

With incentives through Bolsa Esporte and the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the athlete guarantees good training conditions and has been dedicating himself to improving his brands. The swimmer carries out his preparation at the High Performance Water Park of the Vila Olímpica de Manaus.

“This support directly strengthens my swimming performance. I am very grateful to the Government of Amazonas, because through this support I am reaching the Olympic trials”, highlighted Caio Arcos.
