A group of 30 criminal police officers from Santa Catarina will provide emergency assistance to three prison units in Rio Grande do Sul affected by the floods that hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Santa Catarina government announced this Tuesday (7).
The police, who leave for Rio Grande do Sul on Wednesday morning (8)will operate in the following locations:
- Canoas Penitentiary 1 (PECAN I)
- Canoas Penitentiary Complex (CPC)
- Montenegro State Modulated Penitentiary (PMEM).
The Secretary of State for Prison and Socio-Educational Administration (SAP), Carlos Alves, informed that he has been monitoring the situation with the department in Rio Grande do Sul.
“In the coming days, a highly qualified contingent will leave, with extensive experience in prison procedures and operational training, which will certainly be of great value in reinforcing the public security of our brothers in the neighboring state,” he declared.
Firefighters from Santa Catarina also work in rescues in the neighboring state. Since May 1st, the corporation helped 2,073 people and 285 animalsthe corporation reported this Tuesday.
