This Tuesday (7), the União de Mães de Anjos (UMA-PE) received the donation of a ton of non-perishable food, delivered in a symbolic moment by the Alepe Board of Directors. Donations were collected during the cycling tour PedalAlepe 2024which distributed kits to participants in exchange for 1kg of food.
Currently, the A FEET welcomes 431 families in Pernambuco, with the aim of providing assistance to families of children with microcephaly, victims of the Zika Virus epidemic in 2015 and 2016. Since then, the association has sought support and attention from the State, given the treatments and support that each family needs for a possible and healthy routine.
Director of the mothers’ association, Germana Soares highlighted the affection of the delivery: “We are not a welfare NGO, we are a union that fights for rights. But the need for support for these families, given their miserable situation, is undeniable. So a donation like this is of immense importance, bringing relief to the routines of these mothers, fathers and children.”
President of Alepe, deputy Álvaro Porto (PSDB) carried out the symbolic delivery of the food kits and reinforced the measures that have been taken in view of the lack of accessibility to essential treatments for these children. “We are talking and organizing actions that can involve city halls to more quickly promote these surgeries aimed at children living in municipalities”, stated the parliamentarian.
Deputies Coronel Alberto Feitosa (PL), Eriberto Filho (PSB), Romero Albuquerque (União) and Adalto Santos (PP) also participated in the event.
