Bolsonaro shows “good response” to treatment, but has no forecast of discharge in SP

Hospitalized, since Monday night (6), at Vila Nova Star Hospital, in São Paulo (SP), the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) He is responding well to treatment to combat a skin infection, but is not yet expected to be discharged.

The information is contained in the medical bulletin released this Tuesday (7). According to the note signed by the hospital’s general director, Daniel Favarão Del Negro, and the clinical director, Paulo Marcelo Gehm Hoff, the former president is “stable and has no fever” and “remains with a good clinical response to treatment”.

According to doctors, Bolsonaro is receiving antibiotics and preventive measures to avoid venous thrombosis. Over the weekend, he was diagnosed with erysipelas, an infectious skin process that can affect the fat in cellular tissue.

The disease is caused by a bacteria that spreads through the lymphatic vessels. It can occur in people of any age, but is more common in diabetics, obese people and those with impaired circulation in the veins of the lower limbs.

Surgeon Antônio Luiz Macedo, who has been monitoring Bolsonaro’s health since the politician was stabbed during the 2018 electoral campaign, in Juiz de Fora (MG), is monitoring the case and care, together with cardiologist Leandro Echenique. So far, there is no forecast for an increase.

This is not the first time that Bolsonaro has suffered from erysipelas. In November 2022, in the last months of his government, the then president had the same infection, which led him to cancel several commitments.

Still in Manaus, over the weekend, the former president received a visit from the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil). “I left our team available to help with whatever is necessary. He stated that he is fine and in a little while he will be 100%”, said Lima.

During a PL Mulher event, on Saturday (4), Bolsonaro minimized the health problem. “No big deal. It’s a possible erysipelas, I’m being treated and I won’t be back until dawn. She [Michelle] come back early today,” he said.
