Capital receives visit from the technical team of the ‘Recentro’ program, from Pernambuco

The recovery of historic centers is a reality in several cities in Brazil. This Wednesday and Thursday, 8 and 9/5, Manaus City Hall receives a group of professionals from Recife City Hall, from the “Recentro” program, who have been working on site with a plan of initiatives that collaborate with the urban transformation of neighborhoods of Recife, São José and Santo Antônio.

The zeal for the development of culture, history, heritage, architecture and economy are common points between the “Recentro” and Manaus projects, “ Nosso Centro ”, launched by the administration of Mayor David Almeida in 2021 and which has already completed works , such as the Lúcia Almeida viewpoint and Largo de São Vicente.

Next work

The next work delivered to the site will be the tourist pier, scheduled for 9/6. The pier will be a docking structure for small and medium-sized vessels, aimed at the tourist trade and river packages in the Center and surrounding areas.

From “Recentro”, the secretary of the Recife Center Office, Ana Paula Vilaça, will participate in the technical visit; the Territorial Articulation manager, Jonatas Souza; and the Urban Planning manager, Clara Cavalcanti.

Ana Paula Vilaça, who coordinates the “Recentro”, explains that the body’s main task is to coordinate and listen between public institutions, the various actors who live in the Center and those interested in planning and occupying the territory.

“We assist new investors interested in settling in the Center and occupying available properties. We receive property owners every day interested in learning about the program, motivating them to invest in the recovery of their properties”, stated Ana Paula.

Visit

The visit will be accompanied by the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb). According to the manager of Historical Heritage (GPH), architect and urban planner, Landa Bernardo, the visit is important for exchanging information regarding services, new projects, ideas for new proposals, for the historic center.

“It’s an exchange of experiences between other states, Manaus, Recife, and so on. So, it will be a collection of information that they will receive from here, and we will receive from them too”, said Landa.

“Our Center” has three focal points: “More Life”, “More Business” and “More History”, and adds to an architectural complex of great relevance for the capital.

The Manaus program combines housing, rehabilitation, heritage, recovery of indigenous ancestry, but also has issues to ensure that people return to occupy and live in the Center, increasingly becoming a place of citizenship and self-esteem, as well as a tourism space for who arrives and visits the city.
