The Rio Grande do Sul Department of Education has defined that classes in the state education network will resume from next Tuesday (7) in municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul that are least affected by the floods of recent days. They are: Uruguaiana; Osório; Erechim; Big River; Palmeira das Missões; Three steps; São Luiz Gonzaga; São Borja and Ijuí. In the capital, Porto Alegre, there is no forecast for the return of classes.ebc.gif?id=1593600&o=node

“The measure takes into account the fact that these regions were less impacted by the floods and, therefore, are able to resume school activities in the middle of the week. In these locations, however, from Monday (6), teachers and management teams will meet for planning activities and alignment of guidelines for resumption”, informed the secretariat, in a note.

In addition to Porto Alegre, there is no forecast for the resumption of classes in the state network in the following cities: São Leopoldo, Estrela, Guaíba, Cachoeira do Sul and Canoas.

Still this Monday, a new meeting should evaluate the situation of the other education coordinators: Caxias do Sul, Pelotas, Santa Cruz do Sul, Passo Fundo, Santa Maria, Cruz Alta, Bagé, Santo Ângelo, Bento Gonçalves, Santa Rosa; Santana do Livramento; Vacaria; Soledade; Gravataí and Carazinho.

A survey by the secretariat indicates that, as of 6pm this Sunday (5), 2,338 state schools had been affected in some way by the rains. Of this total, 278 were damaged by storms and floods.
