In just five patrolling, traffic and criminal inspection actions by the Military Highway Police in the border region of Mato Grosso do Sul with Paraguay, a large quantity of drugs was seized, totaling 1,389.05 kg.
The actions began last Friday, May 3, during inspections at MS-162, where a Hyundai/HB20 vehicle, driven by a 35-year-old man, was approached. Inside the car, marijuana tablets were found, totaling 204 kg of the drug.
On Saturday (04), the PMR team approached a Citroen/C4 Pallas vehicle and requested documentation from the driver, a 24-year-old man, and a passenger, a 19-year-old woman. During the inspection, several marijuana tablets were found in the trunk, totaling 113 kg of the drug.
In another approach for traffic inspection, on the MS-164 highway at around 10:00 pm, the driver of a Ford/Fiesta vehicle tried to flee upon noticing the police presence on the highway, abandoning the car. Inside the vehicle, police found bales of marijuana, totaling 413 kg.
The Sanga Puitã Operational Base team and the daytime inspector’s team, from BPMRv, arrested, in the early hours of Monday, May 6, a man who was part of a group that transported drugs on bicycles in Aral Moreira.
During patrolling and inspection at around 4:30 am, the police saw a group of cyclists on a side road close to MS 286. The cyclists abandoned their bicycles and fled, but a 22-year-old man was approached. Several bales of marijuana were found on the bicycles, totaling 659.05 kg of the drug.
The man approached reported that he and the other fugitives planned to take the drugs to Dourados (MS), receiving 500 reais for transportation. Military Highway Police operations aim to combat drug trafficking and other illicit activities in the border region.
