President of the TJ defends emergency measures to help flood victims in RS

O President of the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul (TJRS), Alberto Delgado Netodefended the construction of an understanding with the Union that guarantees the suspension of debt payments by the state government. “It is clear that we have to build, together with the federal government, suspensions of debt payments, debt installments, debt readjustments, coming from extraordinary resources. That’s why the state exists, to serve people, and that’s why we’re here”, he said in a meeting on Monday afternoon, at Palácio Piratini, in Porto Alegre, with heads of Powers and Institutions to discuss the climate tragedy that hits RS.

The State Council meeting was led by governor Eduardo Leite, who outlined the situation and the serious humanitarian consequences – dozens of people killed and missing, and thousands of people left homeless – and material and infrastructure losses due to rain and flooding. .

With more than 340 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul affected by what he described as “the biggest climate catastrophe in Rio Grande do Sul”, the Chief Executive commented on the need for emergency and exceptional measures aimed at recovery, including the fiscal and financial area, in the search for resources and hiring people.
