-

The Institute for Promotion and Defense of Citizens and Consumers of Maranhão (Procon/MA) released this Monday (6) another price survey, this time for Mother’s Day. The survey, which includes prices for more than 100 products, had the biggest difference in prices in the flower segment, which was 200%.

The research was carried out from April 26th to May 2nd and, in addition to comparing similar items, it also brings together gift options by price range. In addition to flowers, there are perfumery products, cosmetics, books, accessories, cell phones, jewelry and watches.

“This is one of the most important dates for commerce, there is an increase in sales and this Procon/MA price survey serves both to carry out this preventive inspection, in which we monitor prices to avoid abusive increases driven by increased demand and, on the other hand, we provide the consumer with a tool that can help them to search and choose an option with a price that fits their budget more easily”, explained the president of the organization, Karen Barros.

The item with the biggest price difference was the Gerbera flower, with six units in a simple packaging, sold for R$45.00 at Flora Fogaça do Cohafuma and R$15.00 at Flor de Maio (Cohajap).

Among the books researched, there is a difference of up to 80.16%, found in the title Aprendizados, by Gisele Bundchen (Editora Best Seller), sold at R$ 89.90 at Leitura at Shopping da Ilha and at R$ 49.90 at Leitura of São Luís Shopping.

In perfumery and makeup items, accessories, cell phones and jewelry and watches, you can find gift options ranging from R$59.90 to R$6,433.00.
