The third largest water reservoir in Rio Grande do Norte, the Umari Dam reached 99.38% of its total storage capacity this Monday (6), according to a survey by the State Water Management Institute (Igarn). The current volume is greater than 291 million cubic meters of water, out of the possible 292,813,650 m³. As a result, there are eight centimeters left to drain the water source located in the municipality of Upanema, in the West Potiguar region.

The last time the Umari Dam bled was on April 9 last year, according to Igarn. The increase in water volume in recent days has caused the State’s total surface water reserves to exceed 75% of capacity. The current volume is 3,522,931,699 m³, of the 4,438,663,499 m³ possible.

The Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves Dam, in Vale do Açu, accumulates 1,918,459,475 m³, which represents 80.84% ​​of its capacity. This is the largest reservoir in Rio Grande do Norte, which has not reached this volume since 2012.

The same occurs at the Santa Cruz do Apodi Dam, the second largest reservoir in Rio Grande do Norte, which holds 482,198,850 m³ of water, or 80.41% of total capacity.
