From 8pm on May 6th, the Archdioceses and Dioceses of the East 1 region of National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) will come together in a special act of prayer called “Mariano Rosary for Peace in the State of Rio de Janeiro”. The purpose of this event is to call for peace amid the growing violence and culture of death that affects the state. This initiative, the result of a partnership between the East 1 region of the CNBB and Rádio Catedral FM/RJ, will last until May 17th, seeking to promote peace and harmony throughout the region.
The event will bring together eleven dioceses in Rio de Janeiro, This is an opportunity for the faithful to unite in prayer asking for the intercession of the Virgin Mary so that peace can reign again in Rio de Janeiro and get even closer to their faith and spirituality, because through prayer, it is possible to find strength and comfort to face the difficulties of everyday life, and to seek the transformation of the world through love and peace.
The live broadcast of the event will be broadcast on Rádio Catedral and social networks in the East 1 region, providing an opportunity for the faithful who are unable to attend in person to the places where the Marian rosary will take place. This initiative aims to ensure that everyone has access to prayer and spiritual communion, regardless of geographic location, thereby promoting unity and solidarity among participants in a broad community unity for peace.
Here are the dates and locations where each archdiocese and diocese will perform the Marian rosary for peace in Rio de Janeiro:
May 6: Saint Anthony Cathedral, in the diocese of Duque de Caxias;
May 7: Nossa Senhora do Amparo Parish, in Tanguá, in the archdiocese of Niterói;
May 8: Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish, in Piabetá, in the diocese of Petrópolis;
May 9: São José Operário Parish, in Mesquita, in the diocese of Nova Iguaçu;
May 10th: Praça do km 50, in Seropédica, in the diocese of Itaguaí;
May 13: São Sebastião main square, in Barra Mansa, in the diocese of Barra do Piraí – Volta Redonda;
May 14: Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish, in Comendador Levy Gasparian, in the diocese of Valença;
15th May: Nossa Senhora das Graças Parish, in the diocese of Nova Friburgo;
May 16: Court of the Maria Imaculada seminary, diocese of Campos dos Goytacazes and Apostolic administration of São João Maria Vianney;
may 17: Praça Saenz Peña, in Tijuca, in the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro.
