Caio Hanry Abreu: Public Security in Alagoas is heading towards collapse

-

It is important to emphasize, at the outset, that this article does not criticize the soldiers or those recently appointed to the security forces of the State of Alagoas, especially the Military Police. The criticism, as the reader will be able to analyze, is highly leadership of security forces (PM and PC) and the Government of the State of Alagoas.

Even with the presence of a thousand military police officers, security in Alagoas did not improve – it was a practical demonstration of an old saying: quantity does not mean quality.

Organized crime is growing and adapting to the behavior of security forces, creating even greater difficulty for the State to act. In Alagoas it is no different, but it is happening quickly due to the lack of planning and combat. News of robberies in neighborhoods, especially in the upper part of the capital (Santa Lúcia, Village, Clima Bom, etc.), is no longer rare.

The Government of Alagoas needs to give an answer to citizens: where are the new police officers? Will the upper part of the capital remain unprotected? Will policing — or the lack thereof — continue as it is?
