Teachers in the state education network should have good news in the coming months of 2024. This is because governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) sent to the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (Alba) on Thursday, 2, a bill to guarantee the payment of an extraordinary bonus to all teaching professionals in public education in the state, relating to court orders.
According to the bill, all teachers in the state education network, including those hired through REDA (Special Regime of Administrative Law) and also inactive teaching staff, will be entitled to receive payment of the extraordinary bonus.
The amounts to be paid by the state government to teachers are compensatory in nature and come from 30% of the portion of the resources sent to Bahia by the Union, referring to court orders, as a complement to the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Elementary Education and Valorization of Teaching (FUNDEF) in 2024.
Each teacher will be entitled to receive an amount proportional to the number of hours per week they work. Part of the class in the state network has a 20-hour day, while another part works 40 hours a week.
Also according to the text of the bill sent by the governor of Bahia, those teachers who have two teaching jobs in the state network will be able to receive the benefit twice. The extraordinary bonus, however, cannot be incorporated into the professional’s standard remuneration.
In the message he sent to Alba, Jerônimo requested that the project be processed in the House on an urgent basis, aiming to overcome traditional legislative formalities. If state deputies approve this request, the proposal must be considered directly in the plenary, without the need for evaluation in the thematic committees.
