Until this Friday, only 33% of people in the priority groups had been vaccinated against the flu. The goal is 90%.
The vaccine offered in the public health network prevents the main types of influenza virus present in Brazil, which are influenza A (H1N1), influenza A (H3N2) and influenza B virus, according to Dive.
Protection occurs two to three weeks after applying the dose. For this reason, the State Department of Health warned of the importance of get vaccinated as soon as possiblepreventing serious cases, hospitalizations and deaths from flu.

Children who will receive the vaccine for the first time must take two doses, 30 days apart.
The flu vaccine dose can be administered with other vaccines on the National Vaccination Calendar, except for the dengue vaccine. The recommended interval between flu and dengue doses is 24 hours.
The Secretary of State for Health, Carmen Zanotto, highlighted the need for vaccination by priority groups.
“We are appealing to the entire population to seek vaccination centers. We are at a time of overcrowding in our emergencies, respiratory diseases have already arrived and everyone needs to do their part. Vaccines save lives”, he reiterates.
