With the aim of curbing irregular land divisions in the Federal District, the Brasília Environmental Institute carried out a tax operation this week in Rota do Cavalo, located in the Administrative Region of Sobradinho. At the site, works were taking place in an area of irregular land subdivision. The action, which was carried out in conjunction with the Police Station to Combat Irregular Land Occupation and Crimes against the Urban Order and the Environment (Dema), resulted in the imposition of a fine in the amount of R$ 263,500.95.

The superintendent of Inspection, Auditing and Monitoring (Sufam) at the institute, Simone de Moura Rosa, highlights that the irregular division of land in that location has already been fined several times by Brasília Ambiental. “This time, three tractors and two trucks were caught carrying out works inside the Mansões Bougainville Condominium without authorization from the environmental agency and violating the construction embargo already imposed by our inspectorate”, she informs.

The Environmental Infraction Notice, drawn up by Brasília Ambiental auditors to the detriment of the condominium, was justified by intervention in a Permanent Preservation Area (APP) with earthmoving and soil disturbance with hydromorphic characteristics without environmental license/authorization, in addition to non-compliance with the embargo of works dated 2021. In addition to the imposition of the fine, four people were arrested and the equipment used in the works were all seized.
The institute emphasizes that its aim is to curb this irregularity because this type of work generates several environmental problems, including pollution, erosion, degradation in APPs and Environmental Protection Areas (APAs).
