In Rio de Janeiro, this Saturday (4) there is a Madonna show with the passionate presence of fans from all corners of Brazil.
Actress Márcia Viana was 9 years old and was sitting on the floor at home when she saw a Madonna video.
“She is a very strong figure and far beyond her time,” he says.
Madonna arrived to stay in the life of this Belo Horizonte girl from Minas Gerais. She arrived in Rio this Friday (3) with a friend – three others are on the way – and has already chosen the shirt she will wear on Saturday (4). She is quite bold. It will be the 9th time she has attended a performance by the singer.
“It’s going to be epic, the biggest show of my career, the end of the tour”, says Márcia.
The apartment where Márcia is staying with her friends is just a 15-minute walk from the show stage, on Copacabana beach, and there they will meet many other people who see Madonna as a great inspiration in life.
Businesswoman Rosângela Aguiar counts on Madonna’s strength to face her work.
“She’s not afraid of anything. She imposes herself. You have challenges in life, so either you face them or you retreat”, he comments.
She traveled from Manaus with two friends for this historic presentation.
“Travel through Brasilzão, from the North to here, to see her. She’s a decade ahead of everyone. She’s wonderful, fantastic”, says server Cristiane Vieira.
Those who are true fans even gained a nickname: Madonner.
“I traveled almost 2 thousand km to be here. I came here with my mother, she is here to make a dream come true”, says a fan.
“All I wanted to be in life was Madonna. I wasn’t, but then Vitor came and it was Maya, who is Madonna. The son fulfilled his mother’s dream”, adds the mother, in reference to the drag queen of the son.
Alan Mascarenhas came from the Northeast. He is a professor of social communication and does research on fans.
“I think what defines a Madonner is affection. I think Madonna is about sharing love and about music, bringing people closer. I believe there is no way to talk about Madonna without unity,” he says.
Madonna is also joy.
News reporter: “When sadness hits, put on Madonna’s music, what happens?”
Woman: “Dance, everyone dances, everyone is happy.”
And imagine then when Madonna appears on stage? Just like on Thursday (2), this Friday (3) she rehearsed for the Madonners.
“We don’t know whether to record, whether to look, whether to jump, whether to dance. Well, right, the sound is contagious”, says a fan.
