A 71-year-old man killed a mother and son this Thursday (2/5), in Cocalzinho de Goiás, on the outskirts of the Federal District. According to the police, João Martins Dantas shot the victims’ family several times after arguments. A third person was seriously injured, and the criminal was detained after trying to escape.
The tragedy was captured by local security cameras, which show the moment when João approached the victims and started shooting. The elderly man allegedly made threats against family members before starting to shoot.

João Martins’ first victim was Kalvitor Cardoso, 31 years old. His mother tried to protect her son and stop the attacker, but she also ended up being hit and killed.
An unidentified person was seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
After committing the crime, João Martins tried to escape by car along BR-070, but was caught by the Military Police of Goiás (PMGO) while entering Águas Lindas and detained by military personnel.
The man refused to give details about what motivated him to commit the double homicide.
