Rio – The Rio Courts converted the arrest of Camilla Gomes de Souza in a custody hearing held on Wednesday (1st). She was arrested after throwing her girlfriend Daniele Leal Maia from the window of the apartment where they lived, in Santa Cruz, in the West Zone. In the decision, judge Alex Quaresma Ravache mentioned the testimonies of two witnesses who heard the couple’s discussions before the crime.

According to the witnesses, whose names were preserved, Camilla and Daniele were in a bar on Monday night (29), when the accused showed aggressive behavior towards her partner caused by jealousy. One of the witnesses said that she saw the moment when Camilla grabbed Daniele by the arm and said: “Come here, today I’m going to kill you.” Afterwards, she made more death threats.

Hours later, witnesses who were in the same building as Camilla and Danielle said they heard a loud argument, in addition to the noise of attacks and things being hit, to the point where the ceiling of the witness’s apartment bedroom shook. Then, there was a noise as if something had hit the apartment window and then on the ground floor of the building. When he checked what could have been, he saw Daniele’s body, naked, lying face up.

The judge also mentions a scene reported by one of the witnesses in which Camilla acted coldly after the crime. “In view of the situation, he looked up and saw the custodian at the window, looking down and smoking a cigarette. The witness went up to the victim’s apartment, located on the third floor, and found the custodian sitting on the sofa, calmly smoking a cigarette.” This same witness managed to prevent Camilla from fleeing the scene of the crime.

“The facts contained in the APF reveal the concrete seriousness of the crime and the high danger of the accused to the community”, justified the judge for maintaining Camilla’s arrest. The suspect will remain detained at the José Frederico Marques Public Prison, in Benfica, in the North Zone of Rio.

Daniele’s body was buried on Tuesday (30), at the Campo Grande Cemetery, at 4pm. The victim’s family and friends even made a virtual ‘fundraiser’ to help with the funeral expenses.
