Bahia has two cities among the 50 most violent in the world

Of the Brazilian cities with the most violent deaths in the ranking, seven are in the Northeast region and three are in the North

Feira de Santana, in Bahia, is the most violent Brazilian city, according to a survey carried out by the Mexican NGO Citizen Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. With a rate of 58.69 homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants, Princesinha do Sertão occupies the 19th position on the world list and the first among the 10 in Brazil highlighted in the research.

In addition to Feira, Salvador appears in 31st place in the ranking of the 50 most violent cities in the world, the 3rd worst situation in the national territory. The data refers to 2023.

Of the Brazilian cities with the most violent deaths, seven are in the Northeast region and three are in the North. Compared to the year 2022, the country improved its indexes, as the most violent city occupied 11th position and is now in 19th place.

Mossoró, in Rio Grande do Norte, which was the most violent city in 2022, left the ranking this year, in the same way as the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, and the Bahian city of Vitória da Conquista. Caruaru, Macapá and Porto Velho, which did not appear in the previous year, entered the sad ranking.

19th – Feira de Santana

The most violent cities in the world are Mexico’s Colima, for the second year running, and Ciudad Obregón, with 117.83 murders per 100,000 inhabitants.

Among the countries with the most cities in the ranking are Mexico (16 cities), Brazil (10), Colombia (8) and the United States (6). South Africa appears with four cities among the most violent in the survey.
