Acre Military Police announces 108th anniversary schedule

With a history that dates back to the first years of the 20th century, the Military Police of Acre (PMAC) celebrates its 108th anniversary this year. Founded on May 25, 1916, the institution will celebrate the date with several actions scheduled throughout the month of May. The institution’s general commander, Colonel Luciano Dias Fonseca, released the schedule of activities this Thursday, 2nd.

The beginning of the celebrations was marked by health actions aimed at the military public, held at the General Command Barracks, on Thursday morning. The activities scheduled for the general public, however, begin next weekend, with the PMAC 108 Years Exhibition.

The exhibition will be on display between the 4th and 5th of May, at the local shopping mall, with historic vehicles and weapons, in addition to the portfolio of activities that the Military Police carry out on a daily basis. The event will also feature entertainment from the PMAC Music Band, Furiosa.

In addition, there will be sports competitions, including chess, volleyball, jiu-jitsu and football tournaments, decoration ceremonies and the big anniversary graduation, which will take place on May 24th. The highlights among the activities are the traditional Tiradentes Race and the Military Police Gala Ball. The program also includes a Musical Concert, presented by the PMAC Music Band, at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac).

More than a century of struggles

Over its 108 years, the Military Police of Acre played an important role in the construction of the state, in addition to the already known public security activities, actively participating in infrastructure projects, such as road works and public buildings, leaving a legacy of work recognized in official history.

Colonel Luciano Dias Fonseca, general commander of PMAC, recalled that the institution has always been at the side of the people, in moments of joy and difficulty, contributing far beyond its constitutional functions. He highlighted that the activities on the celebration calendar do justice to the Military Police, which in recent years has become a reference among state and country institutions.

“There are 108 years of history, since the transformation of the old Territorial Guard to the police we have today, modern and capable. As a state institution, we literally build roads to civilization and autonomy in Acre, guaranteeing, above all, the implementation of the Democratic Rule of Law. And this date could not go unnoticed, as it is a new milestone in our history, in which the Military Police stands as a heritage of the people of Acre, modern and innovative, and which only grows in the face of new challenges”, he highlighted.
