After a Public Civil Action proposed by the Public Ministry of Tocantins (MPTO), the Court ordered, on Monday, 29, the blocking of amounts from the public accounts of the Municipality of Palmas, for the acquisition of a device for measuring glucose levels in the blood of the six year old child. The measure is exceptional, due to non-compliance with the court decision within the previously stipulated deadlines.
The block meets the determination of the ruling handed down, in November 2023, by the 1st Civil Chamber of the Court of Justice of Tocantins.
The device is a glucose meter that does not depend on blood collection and was prescribed due to its benefits, including less chance of destabilization and admission to an intensive care unit. In addition to improving school attendance, it stores data for up to ninety days and provides a complete picture of the patient’s glucose over time, helping the team to make decisions and prevent worsening or worsening. In view of this, the 27th Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Capital initiated a preparatory procedure in March this year, in order to investigate the lack of supply of standardized inputs, such as fast-acting and basal insulin, blood glucose test strips, non-standardized devices, among other materials necessary to carry out the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus by municipal and state public administrations.
