The Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad (OBA) and the Brazilian Rocket Show (MOBFOG) are annual events that involve elementary and high school students. Responsible teachers must register their schools and students through the OBA online platform.
The OBA tests will be held in person on May 17th, the same deadline established for MOBFOG rocket launches. The previous year, more than 42 thousand students from 298 schools in Alagoas participated in these competitions, obtaining a total of 152 medals, 80 gold, 38 silver and 34 bronze.
Among the schools awarded in 2023, the following stand out: Escola Estadual Francisco Domingues de Limoeiro de Anadia, Escola Estadual Fernandes Lima and Escola Estadual Edmilson Pontes de Maceió, Escola Estadual Padre Aurélio Gois de Junqueiro, Escola Estadual Constança de Góes Monteiro de Major Izidoro, Humberto Mendes State School and New Jersey State School in Palmeira dos Índios, Julieta Ramos Pereira State School in Paripueira, Senador Rui Palmeira State School and Tiradentes College (Agreste unit) in Arapiraca.
Participating in these competitions is an opportunity for students to explore and develop their curiosity and knowledge about astronomy and astronautics. The extended deadline provides more time for schools to prepare and register, ensuring broad and diverse participation.
