Part of the municipality of Putinga is flooded. The city is located in a valley, surrounded by hills, which causes water to flow to the central region of the municipality.

According to the Fire Department, a father and a son disappeared in São Vendelino, in the Serra Region of Rio Grande do Sul, after a landslide. Security camera images show the moment the earth advanced on ERS-122. There were vehicles and people at the scene, including the missing people.

In the municipality of Santa Tereza, in Serra do RS, the Taquari River exceeded the flood level by six meters, reaching 21 meters. According to city hall, at least 300 people are in the shelter set up in a community hall.
A landslide on a hill in Santa Maria, in the Itararé neighborhood, left four people dead, according to the city hall. The numbers have not yet been confirmed by Civil Defense. The victims would be mother and daughter. The landslide occurred this Wednesday (1st) after a rock fell onto a house.
At least 1,700 people left their homes in São Gabriel, on the western border of the state. In total, 430 homes were affected by the Vacacaí River. The municipality declared an emergency situation. People take shelter in a municipal gymnasium and a school.
The Caí River reached the highest mark in history in São Sebastião do Caí: 16.67 meters. The waters invaded ERS-122, close to the entrance to the city, the first time this has occurred, according to Civil Defense. In many places, firefighters have to go by boat to rescue stranded people.
In the early hours of Wednesday (1st), the Civil Defense of Montenegro, in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, received more than 180 rescue requests, after the Caí River exceeded ten meters. More than 100 people are sheltering in a municipal gym.
