The State Secretariat for Education, Culture and Sports (SEE), through the Department of Training and Educational Assistance (Defae), carried out the certification of more than 900 mediator teachers on the night of Tuesday the 30th. The training of professionals was carried out in partnership with the Department of Special Education.

The ceremony, which took place in the auditorium of the State Department of Traffic (Detran), was attended by the deputy secretary of education at SEE, professor Sebastião Flores, by state deputy Marcos Cavalcante, who represented the Legislative Assembly of Acre (Aleac) at the event, in addition to of the heads of the Training departments, Lídia Cavalcante and of Special Education, Hadhianne Peres.

Across the state, initial and continuing training for mediator teachers reached more than 1,300 professionals. Most of the classes took place in a distance learning format (EAD) and another part was carried out with Defae trainers through face-to-face classes.

During the ceremony, Deputy Secretary Tião Flores highlighted that there is no other way for society to advance other than through education. On this occasion, he spoke again about the opening of the notice for the hiring of 3 thousand professionals, which should happen soon.

“These more than 900 mediators who are receiving the certificate today are prepared to work in the classroom, with children who have learning difficulties, whether in the State or in the city hall”, he highlighted.

The head of the training department, professor Lídia Cavalcante, highlighted that, during the course, the theoretical part associated with the professionals’ practice was worked on. Why is this professional a teacher? Because he is also responsible for student learning, especially special education students,” she said.

“In this way, they are specializing, improving, undergoing this training so that they expand their socio-emotional knowledge, which is specific to special education and so that they can carry out this didactic mediation with scientific resources”, he explained.

Professor Josenir Araripe de Santana, who works at the Francisco Salgado Filho school, highlighted the importance of having participated in the training of mediator teachers. For her, it was a way to improve herself professionally.

“It was a worthwhile learning experience, especially with the content on how to work with the target audience and how to deal with students, their rights, all of this was very important for our learning”, he made a point of saying .

Knowledge and sensitivity

Teacher Maria Amélia Sá de Maciel, who worked in education in Xapuri for many years, is now retired. But she made a point of participating in continuing training for mediator teachers because of the knowledge and sensitivity that is acquired throughout the classes.

“Working with disabled students we acquire more knowledge and also more sensitivity and I appeal to the State government so that this training can be extended to all teachers who work in the classroom”, he made a point of saying.

For her, this knowledge is necessary for “things to happen”. According to her, the training was carried out by excellent teachers. “I was amazed by the team, the high level and we all gained a lot from this training and I am very grateful for this opportunity”, she said.

“In this training, I discovered that each disabled student has their own ability and we only discover these abilities in our students when we acquire more knowledge”, he highlighted.
