The Unified National Competition (CNU) may be canceled due to the heavy rains occurring in Rio Grande do Sul. The Ministry of Management and Innovation informed in a note, this Wednesday (1/5), that it closely monitors the situation in the state .

“The organization of the Unified National Competition is monitoring the situation in Rio Grande do Sul with a team on site and in dialogue with local authorities. Any necessary logistical changes will be announced by the Ministry of Management”, says a note from the department responsible for the competition, which will be held across the country next Sunday (5/5).

Of the 96,592 thousand registered for the test in Rio Grande do Sul, more than 9 thousand indicated Santa Maria to take the exam, one of the main cities affected by the heavy rains. The entire region around the municipality was hit by the storm, which also caused many roads to be blocked.

One of the access bridges to the central region collapsed on Tuesday afternoon (30/4), leaving only two access routes, BR-287 and BR-158.

In total, the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul confirmed 10 deaths as a result of the floods and 21 people are missing. Around 104 municipalities were affected, 1,431 people were homeless and 1,145 were taken to shelters.
