In a speech to the nation on the occasion of May 1st, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, highlighted this Tuesday (30) the government’s policies in favor of workers and the positive results in job creation and wage appreciation.ebc.gif?id=1593063&o=node

“You who truly produce the wealth of our country, you deserve more than our gratitude. They deserve better wages, guaranteed rights, better quality of life and opportunities to grow. They deserve a more developed Brazil and a place to live.”

According to him, May 1st is a day of struggle for workers around the world. Marinho celebrated the record creation of formal jobs in Brazil. According to him, there were almost 720 thousand jobs this year and 2.1 million since the beginning of the government.

“This May 1st is the day to also celebrate the real appreciation of the minimum wage, which rose again above inflation, and the appreciation of all salaries in the most diverse professional categories, which were also readjusted above inflation.”

According to Marinho, the government’s public policies guaranteed the removal of 24.4 million people from hunger. He also mentioned the tax reform, being negotiated in the National Congress, which, according to the minister, will lower the price of food, and the approval of the income tax exemption for those earning up to 2 minimum wages, with the commitment to reach it in 2026 with exemption for those earning up to R$5,000.

The minister recalled the government’s proposal forwarded to the National Congress that guarantees labor and social security rights for app drivers. He also cited other initiatives such as the launch of the Believe program, the offer of real estate credit and credit for small business owners, as well as favorable conditions for debt renegotiation.

He highlighted the need to fight against precarious work in Brazil and around the world. “It’s not the machines, it’s not the money, it’s not the apps, the algorithms or artificial intelligence. It is you, men and women of flesh and blood who make every drop of your sweat count and who deserve a fair share of the wealth you produce”, he concluded.
