One person died and two were injured in an accident between a car and a truck at MGC-122, in Janaúba, this Tuesday (30).
According to information released by the Military Police and firefighters, the truck driver said he was heading towards Janaúba/Montes Claros, when the car rolled on the road and the head-on collision occurred. The accident occurred at KM-180.
After the crash, the truck driver lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle overturned and ended up across the road.
Three people were traveling in the car, which had Jaíba license plates, and a 73-year-old passenger succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene. The driver, aged 66, and the other passenger, aged 73, were rescued by Samu teams and firefighters and were taken to the Janaúba Regional hospital. None of the victims were trapped in the hardware.
The truck was transporting bananas and part of the load was scattered at the scene. The driver suffered minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital. Traffic on the highway had to be closed for around three hours.
