At Agrishow, Bolsonaro highlights legacy, thanks Pix and mentions heirs

In an auditorium full of rural producers, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) held this Monday (29) the unofficial opening of the 29th Agrishow, the largest Brazilian agricultural technology fair, in Ribeirão Preto (SP).

The organizers of the fair adjusted the agendas to avoid a repeat of last year’s situation, when the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, was “disinvited” to the opening ceremony attended by the former president, in an attempt to avoid hostilities in the agro sector, strongly aligned with Bolsonaro.

This time, the official opening with the presence of Fávaro and the vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, took place in a private ceremony, on Sunday (28), while the “festive” opening was this Monday, with the presence of Bolsonaro , the governors of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), and several former ministers from the previous government.

Bolsonaro was welcomed by Tarcísio, who recalled that the previous government took place in a context of pandemic, water crisis and war in Ukraine, and even so it left an economic legacy and the approval of reforms. “The economy today lives off the inertia of what was done in past administrations, particularly by the previous government”, highlighted Tarcísio.

In his speech, Bolsonaro highlighted his government’s legacy in works and the fight against corruption. One of the examples cited was from Ceagesp, where the situation found was compared to “a police case”, according to him.

“I went to the Military Police to find the former commander of Rota, Colonel Ricardo Mello Araújo, who did work there, where 50 thousand people pass through a day. He had all the problems of big cities, and he solved them all, especially corruption in a trickle,” said Bolsonaro.

The former president thanked the people who sent Pix to help him pay for fines and defense in the cases he has faced.

“Thank you to whoever gave Pix to me, I have never seen so much money in my life. It gave me peace of mind. Almost half have already involved lawyers and some fines, but everything is going very well”, he highlighted.

He cited Pix to remember the message he received from a Ceagesp cart pusher, along with the R$100 deposit receipt. “For me, it’s a lot of money, but with the previous administrators I paid R$160 per month to push a cart. at Ceagesp”, said the worker, according to the former president’s account.

“We closed the drain on corruption,” said Bolsonaro, adding that the resources from the Itaipu plant made it possible to build the second bridge with Paraguay, start a third for the future bioceanic corridor, pave the trans-cattle road and expand the Foz do Iguaçu airport .

“The ports started to make a profit. The port of Santos made a loss of R$500 million, which turned into a profit of R$500 million, without increasing the tariff”, he highlighted. “I doubt who remembers the names of five ministers from the current government, whether due to lack of qualifications or a minimum of morale to be in charge of such an important position”, provoked Bolsonaro.

Acclaimed by cries of “Bolsonaro back”, the former president once again highlighted the legacy of political heirs.

“If I don’t come back one day, don’t worry, we planted seeds over these four years that we discovered also have the capacity to move this great country forward. There are older seeds, but they are capable of germinating and bearing good fruit too”, he joked, alongside governor Ronaldo Caiado, from Goiás, who has placed himself as a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. Alongside him was also governor Tarcísio, from Goiás, another name that is usually mentioned for the Planalto.
