Governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema | Photo: Reproduction Instagram / @romeuzemaoficial

The State governor, Romeu Zema (Novo), and his Finance and Planning secretaries have said that the great work of these almost seven years in office was to put Minas on track. A recent survey carried out by Firjan, in fact, it is worth recognizing, very well prepared, showed that of all the Brazilian States, only São Paulo, Amapá, Espírito Santo and Mato Grosso will not add to the total of R$ 29.3 billion that represents the fiscal deficit across the country.

Minas is the second state on the list of Federation units that will not be able to pay their expenses with their revenue. It comes second only to the lack of control in Rio de Janeiro. Minas’s deficit forecast in the 2024 accounts is R$4.2 billion, representing 14.3% of the total national deficit.

Wouldn’t it be worth reviewing what many independent economists call generous – the policy of tax incentives and benefits given to many sectors covered here?

Is there a balance of what these awarded sectors receive and what they leave behind economically and socially for Minas? Is any deputy coming forward to promote this survey?
