Overcoming, resilience, creativity, dedication, teamwork, collaboration, friendship and respect. Next Monday (29), the Olympic cauldron will be lit again in the city of Linhares, north of Espírito Santo, opening another edition of the municipal phase of the Espírito Santo School Games, which will bring together more than 1 thousand students from 29 schools municipal, state, federal and private education networks. The competition will be held from April 29th to May 10th.
The opening ceremony, in addition to the oath of athletes and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, will be held at the Idemar Unêda Gymnasium, in the Shell neighborhood, at 2 pm, and entry is free. The games will have four types of competition: futsal, volleyball, handball and basketball.
The municipal phase of the School Games aims to value the experiences of students and teachers in Physical Education classes and promote experiences of sport as a social and cultural space, in which the subjects involved can expand opportunities for knowledge, interaction, collaboration, solidarity and pleasure from playing sports.
“The games aim to enable the identification of sporting talents in schools, contribute to the student’s social development and offer students access to practicing school sports. Furthermore, competition is extremely important to value the experiences of students, athletes and teachers”said the mayor of Linhares, Bruno Marianelli.
The municipal secretary of Education, Maria da Penha Valani, highlights how much sport transforms lives, how much sport motivates the pursuit of a dream.
“The world celebrates sport in major events and we also know that great athletes are not born ready-made, they are formed throughout their lives and, often, these stories begin at school, from the look and encouragement of a teacher. By holding school games, we are working on cooperation and socialization, developing a spirit of leadership and respect among our students. These will certainly be days of great emotion, of healthy competition, the biggest result of which is the integration of our network”highlighted the Secretary of Education of Linhares, Maria da Penha Valani.
The municipal secretary of Sports and Leisure, Fabiano Eller, highlighted the importance of school games.
“There will be twelve days of lots of sports practice and a lot of integration between schools. I am very happy with this beautiful competition in our city, because it serves to strengthen the bonds of social protection, contribute to the formation of citizenship and, above all, involve these teenagers in a healthy activity and discover new talents for sport”concluded.
