The State Department of Traffic of Bahia (Detran – BA) carried out educational campaigns, at the beginning of April, to warn about the deadline. CNH C, D and E correspond to drivers of trucks, vans, buses, minibuses, cargo or passenger vans and articulated buses.

According to Detran’s general director, Rodrigo Pimentel, at the end of the deadline, the infraction is automatically registered in the system if drivers do not take the exams and run the risk of being fined a very serious fine, worth R$1,467.

Rodrigo also highlighted that the exam is simple and the results will be available within five days. Furthermore, the procedure can be carried out in any laboratory or in large pharmacy chains.

Toxicological examination

The toxicological test detects the consumption, active or not, of psychoactive substances in the last 90 days by a driver. The analysis is carried out using a hair or nail sample and the results are available within five days.

It was required again in Bahia, in 2016, after the Federal Regional Court (TRF) revoked an injunction that suspended the process in the state. With the decision, every two and a half years, drivers in categories C, D and E must take the exam.
