Councilors fight during session voting to ban the use of fireworks

Councilors from the city of Pindobaçu, in the north of Bahia, fought, on Thursday (25), during a session that voted to ban the use of loud fireworks in the municipality. The fight was filmed by several people who were at the scene. [Assista acima]

According to information from the Pindobaçu Municipal Guard, the confusion began in the office of the Mayor, Jarlan Menezes. As a result, the session was suspended.

However, according to the Municipal Guard, the president of the Chamber backed down and decided to keep the session.

According to the project, the noise from fireworks interferes with the quality of life of newborns, postpartum women, the elderly, sick people, those with autism spectrum disorder and animals.

The production of TV São Francisco, an affiliate of TV Bahia, contacted the councilors involved in the confusion. Adriano Nunes (União Brasil) and Henrique Lopes (PP) accuse the author of the project, Eugênio Moreira da Silva (PSDB), of attacking them and imposing approval of the measure.

In a note, Eugênio Moreira da Silva informed that the bill was never processed irregularly in the Chamber. He also accuses Henrique Lopes of attacking him.

The Military Police stated that they were called to help break up the fight, but the agents found the session suspended when they arrived at the Chamber. The case was not registered at the city police station.

When contacted, the president of the Chamber, Jarlan Menezes, declined to comment on the fight.
