The deputies of the PT bench in the Legislative Assembly repudiated the approval of the bill in the Legislative Assembly that grants the Title of Citizen of Santa Catarina to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). They consider the granting of the honor to be illegal and immoral.

The bench complains that the approval conflicts head-on with paragraph 2, of Article 5, of Complementary Law No. 16,721/2015, which provides for the granting of the Santa Catarina Citizenship Title.
“The title will not be granted to those considered ineligible, while the ineligibility lasts”, points out an excerpt from the law. Bolsonaro is ineligible until 2030, by decision of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) for abuse of political power in official events, misuse of the media and conduct prohibited by authorities in elections.
“He came to spend holidays, go motorcycling, ride a Jet ski, stay in expensive hotels and have fun”, complained deputy Fabiano da Luz, leader of the PT bench at Alesc.

The deputy also commented that Bolsonaro made systematic cuts to the budget in Santa Catarina, especially in the road infrastructure, to the point that the then State government had to intervene with resources, otherwise the roads would become impassable.
Representative Luciane Carminatti highlighted the criminal negligence in managing the health crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic. “We must not forget that when he was president he neglected our State. He was negligent in the Covid-19 pandemic, which resulted in more than 23 thousand deaths in Santa Catarina”.
Deputy Padre Pedro Baldissera called the honor the “Motociata Citizenship Title” because the former president, during his term, did not prioritize the interests and development of Santa Catarina.
