A woman was arrested after receiving R$3,200 in fake bills at a Post Office in Manaus. According to the Federal Police, the woman negotiated the order through an internet application.
The arrest took place after the PF received information that a postal item could contain fake ballots. Federal police officers went to the Post Office and approached the suspect as she picked up the package.
Thirty-two fake banknotes worth R$100 were found with the woman.
Seizure of fake banknotes
According to the Federal Police, in Amazonas, between April 22nd and 26th, five boxes containing fake banknotes were seized. The boxes contained approximately one hundred adulterated notes which, due to quick expert analysis, were promptly identified as illegitimate.
The crime of counterfeit currency has a maximum penalty of up to 12 years in prison and a fine.
