The Federal Audit Court (TCU) is mediating the negotiation of VLT cars between Mato Grosso and Bahia. This week, the president of the TCU, minister Bruno Dantas, received the governors of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), and of Mato Grosso (MT), Mauro Mendes (União).

On that occasion, another stage of negotiations was carried out to facilitate the agreement for the purchase, by the government of Bahia, of 40 Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) wagons from the government of MT.

The wagons were acquired for the implementation of the Light Rail Vehicle during the preparation period for Cuiabá as one of the venues for the 2014 World Cup. However, the project was not put into practice, leaving the material idle.

The TCU’s Secretariat for External Control of Consensual Resolution and Conflict Prevention (SecexConsenso) acts as mediator of the pact between the entities, which also involves the respective state audit courts, the states’ attorney general’s office, the respective Public Accounting Ministries and the vehicle manufacturer.

This is the first interfederative agreement that TCU helps to mediate in the country. If completed, the trains and tracks acquired will be used to transport passengers in Salvador.
