Military Policeman is shot in Vila Velha
A military police officer was shot in the head while patrolling in the Vila Garrido neighborhood in Vila Velha, Greater Vitória, on Thursday night (25). The state’s Secretary of Public Security reported that soldier Renan Tamaioni was rescued and is doing well. The Military Police said that a minor, who participated in the confrontation, was also shot. He and another young man were apprehended.
According to the PM, the neighborhood is a region of confrontation between criminal factions.
“It is a region of dispute. During the patrol, several armed individuals were seen and there was an exchange of gunfire. A military police officer was shot in the head, taken to Hospital São Lucas, he is doing well and is stable,” said the PM commander , Douglas Caus.
Suspect injured in the arm
In the confrontation, a suspect, a minor, was also injured.
“We came across an individual running on Jerônimo Monteiro, in Paul. He tried to enter a lady’s house, was arrested and had a gunshot wound to the forearm. He said he participated in the exchange of gunfire and was taken to the Antônio Bezerra de Farias Hospital “, said the commander.
After the confrontation, the police reinforced security in the neighborhood and carried out a mega operation to arrest others involved in the exchange of gunfire in which the police officer was shot.
“There are more than 100 police officers from the Tactical Force, a large mobilization of the Military Police. The determination is to arrest the individuals. They only have one way out, immediately hand over the weapons to the Civil Police”, reinforced Caus.
The state’s Secretary of Public Security, Eugênio Ricas, reinforced that the police will continue carrying out operations until everyone involved in the case is arrested.
“Criminals who insist on confronting the state, exchanged shots with the Military Police and soldier Renan Tamaioni ended up being shot in the head and fortunately he is fine. We will not rest while all those criminals who insist on confronting the police, with the state, remain free. We will not rest until everyone is arrested and answers for their crimes”, said the secretary.
The Civil Police reported that two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were apprehended by the Military Police. He explained that the 15-year-old teenager was charged with an infraction similar to the crime of attempted qualified homicide and will be sent to the Integrated Socio-Educational Service Center (Ciase) as soon as he is medically discharged.
The 17-year-old teenager was charged with an infraction similar to the crimes of attempted qualified homicide and illegal possession of a firearm. He will also be referred to Ciase when he is discharged.
The Civil Police also informed that the case will remain under investigation by the Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Division (DHPP) of Vila Velha and there are no further details that can be provided at this time.
