Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Ceará, Sergipe, Piauí and Rio Grande do Sul will receive vaccines against dengue from this Friday, April 26th. The information comes from the Ministry of Health, which announced the expansion of vaccination to another 625 municipalities in the country.
The new regions will receive the fourth shipment of vaccines, which will have 986.5 thousand doses. The vaccine will also be allocated to municipalities that have already benefited in previous stages.

“Now, we have 25 states in the federation covered by the vaccine. With these new remittances that are being distributed, we will reach 1,300 municipalities served throughout Brazil. It is important to highlight that we are following the list of regions previously agreed with state and municipal health managers”, explained the Secretary of Health and Environmental Surveillance, Ethel Maciel.
The distribution of doses in the municipalities was determined based on three main criteria:
Ranking of health regions and municipalities;
Required quantity of doses according to availability (predicted by the manufacturer);
Calculation of the total doses to be delivered in a single shipment to the municipality.
Vaccines intended for application of the second dose (D2) will be sent later, considering the recommended interval of 3 months to complete the vaccination schedule. The Ministry of Health reinforces that it is essential that States and Municipalities follow the technical notes that will be prepared with each shipment.
Dengue in Mato Grosso
According to data from the State Department of Health (SES-MT), through the Ministry of Health, Mato Grosso confirmed 15,153 cases of dengue this year. In total, 22,540 cases were reported, of which 7,387 were not confirmed. The state also recorded 11 deaths due to the disease and 3 are under investigation.
The majority of dengue patients are women (54.6%), while men are 45.4%. The majority of female victims of the Aedes aegypti mosquito are between 20 and 29 years old (2,231 cases).
