The 35th Biennial arrives in Bahia

Starting next week, the traveling exhibition program for the 35th São Paulo Biennial – choreographies of the impossible arrives in the first city in the Northeast region of the country!

savior (BA) will receive a clipping from the exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia from May 2nd to July 26th, 2024, through the Secretariat of Culture of the State of Bahia and IPAC – Institute of Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Bahia, with free entry.

The exhibition will occupy four spaces in the Museum, including the Casarão and the Chapel, and includes works that were designed in relation to Bahia, such as the installation by Torkwase Dyson – which makes reference to Forte Garcia d’Ávila, in Mata de São João – or the documents that attest to the existence of Xica Manicongo in the former colonial capital.

The institution will host the largest exhibition held outside the Biennial Pavilion, with eighteen participants: Citra Sasmita, Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira, Edgar Calel, Emanoel Araujo, Inaicyra Falcão, Julien Creuzet, Leilah Weinraub, Luiz de Abreu, M’Barek Bouhchichi , MAHKU, Malinche, Marilyn Boror Bor, Maya Deren, Quilombo Cafundó, Rosana Paulino, Simone Leigh and Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich, Torkwase Dyson and Xica Manicongo.

A opening takes place on May 2nd, at 6pm at MAM-BA and includes mediated visits and presentation of the performance Repertoire N. 3by Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira.

There will still be launch of the third movement of the educational publication of the 35th Biennial, called walk through dance, through avoidance and its knowledge, we continue learningwhich will feature a conversation with artists Inaicyra Falcão and Lázaro Roberto, from Zumví Arquivo Afro Fotográfico, on May 3rd, Friday, at 6pm, at Goethe-Institut Salvador.
