More than 1,900 families settled in Bahia received state forest registrations

Last Friday (19), the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform delivered to representatives of settlements in the State of Bahia, thirty-two documents from the State Forestry Registry of Rural Properties (Cefir). The documents, which benefit 1,900 families, are equivalent to the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR).

According to information from Incra, in the last four months, there have been 92 registrations held by agrarian reform workers in Bahia. In December 2023, Incra granted 60 of them to families. With Cefir in hand, farmers will be able to access new public policies, including the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf).

In this second stage of deliveries, 18 municipalities in Bahia were covered. In Vitória da Conquista alone, six settlements received Cefir. In Boa Vista do Tupim and Itaetê, three areas of agrarian reform each benefited.

In Iguaí, Iramaia, Santo Amaro and São Sebastião do Passé, two settlements from each municipality received the document.

Conquest

For the settler and leader of the social movement, Paulo Cesar de Souza, Cefir will both make it possible to obtain environmental regularity for the settlements and access new lines of financing.

“It will improve our lives, as we will be able to expand production. This is another achievement for the families covered”, she considers.

Partnership

The release of documents is made possible through a partnership signed between Incra and the Superintendency of Agrarian Development (SDA), linked to the Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR), and the Institute of the Environment and Water Resources (Inema), of the Government of Bahia.
