The Comida di Buteco competition, which is in its 24th national edition, with the motto “Somos Todos Buteco”, could become Intangible Cultural Heritage of Rio. Bill No. 1735/2023, authored by state deputy Verônica Lima, has already It was approved in the first discussion in the ALERJ plenary.

“The Competition plays a very important role in strengthening and ensuring visibility for local gastronomy and popular culture in the participating territories.” declared the parliamentarian.

This year, “Comida” is organized into 27 circuits, covering more than 40 cities, from all regions of Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro, 143 bars are participating in the event. This year, the election will be held differently, structured around three distinct “Best Buteco” circuits: Baixada Fluminense, Niterói and Rio.

Comida di Buteco moves the bar economy and, according to the organization, generated more than R$300 million and recorded one million votes in 2023. It is an important cultural, economic and social incentive.

“The bar is a Rio institution, which spreads throughout the State of Rio de Janeiro. That’s why Comida Di Buteco is so successful here. Nothing more fair than transforming this event into an Intangible Cultural Heritage of our State. In addition to the economic increase it generates, it is an event that unites gastronomy and culture.”, comments Verônica Lima.

Voting for the contest takes place until May 5th, in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Goiânia, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, and until April 28th in other locations. Participating snacks have a fixed price of R$35.
