Producers from Rio Grande do Sul can now guarantee their presence in the 3rd edition of the RS Artisanal Cheese Competition. Promoted by the Gaúcha Dairy Association (AGL), Emater/RS and Sebrae RS, the event will be held from May 24th to 26th, at Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, in Porto Alegre, and will recognize some of the most innovative products made in the State. Registration can be completed until April 28th via the AGL website.

In addition to the competition itself – which will also have the category of artisanal milk sweets –, the event will have a program of workshops, exhibitions, product sales and technical lectures. In its first edition in 2022, the RS Artisanal Cheese Competition brought together 44 cheese dairies from the State that entered 99 varieties of cheese. The initiative featured 24 judges and 11 exhibitors, in addition to more than 250 participants in the technical panels and more than 240 people involved in the thematic workshops.

For the awards, the event has table composed of jurors (national and international)), which will award points to the products presented and the accumulated value defines whether the cheese receives a gold, silver or bronze medal. In addition to the awards in the aforementioned categories, there will be a “Super Gold” medal – chosen among the gold medalists in the overall score.

The competition, in addition to valuing the production of artisanal cheeses and gaucho milk sweets, brings urban consumers closer to producers, providing new business opportunities, as exposure to a different audience is a great way to reach new markets.
