Father is shot dead and 4-year-old daughter is shot in Vila Velha, ES | Holy Spirit

A man was shot dead and a 4-year-old child was shot on Wednesday night (24) in the Jardim Marilândia neighborhood in Vila Velha, Greater Vitória.

Witnesses told the Military Police that José Luiz Alvarenga, 38, was shot several times and was holding his two daughters, an eight-year-old girl and a four-year-old girl.

The victim was walking down the street when he was surprised by two men who were on a motorcycle. One of them got out of the vehicle and started shooting.

When the criminals approached, the father opened the gate of a neighborhood resident’s house and threw the children inside, but the youngest daughter ended up being shot.

According to the police, José Luiz Alvarenga had an open arrest warrant for trafficking. According to the Department of Justice (Sejus), the man was admitted and released from the prison system in November 2014 for drug trafficking.

Father and daughter were rescued by family friends and taken to the Emergency Room (PA) in Cobilândia. The girl was discharged, but her father died.

Hours later, a 21-year-old man was shot on the same street where the attack that killed José took place.

The victim was rescued and told the police that the person who shot him was one of José’s relatives, who identified the young man as a participant in his relative’s death hours before.

Investigators from the Homicide Division were in the neighborhood this Thursday morning (25) and spoke with José Luiz’s relatives.

The Civil Police reported that the case remains under investigation by the Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Division (DHPP) of Vila Velha. Until the last update of this report, no suspects had been detained.

The victim’s body was sent to the Legal Medical Department (DML) of Vitória, where it will undergo an autopsy process. It will later be released to family members.
