This week, the survey by the Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute reveals that 709,011 hectares have already been harvested in this 2023/2024 harvest. This represents 78.76% of the total area sown in RS of 900,203 hectares. The advance in the last seven days reached almost 12 percentage points.

To date, the average productivity of this crop is 8,612 kilos per hectare in the State. “When you analyze the behavior of the average, you can see that it has been on a downward trend in recent weeks. This downward trend in the average will intensify in the coming weeks due to the floods and lodging caused by the latest rain events”, analyzes the Irga technical area.

The Western Frontier is the most advanced region, with 83% of the area harvested. The Outer Coastal Plain and Campaign appear next, with 82%. The furthest behind continues to be Central, with 60%. 1.4% are still in the reproductive stage, while 20% are in the maturation phase.

The survey was prepared by teams from the Institute’s Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Centers (Nates) together with producers in Rio Grande do Sul.
